Pittosporum 'Little Burger'

How to grow Pittosporum 'Little Burger' in NZ

Pittosporum 'Little Burger' grows best in a sunny to partially shaded position with well drained soil. It adapts readily to most soil types provided drainage is adequate. Water regularly during establishment to encourage strong root development, then reduce watering once plants are settled. Incorporating compost into the planting area can improve soil structure and promote healthy growth. Applying mulch around the base helps conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and support strong establishment in the early stages of growth.

Pittosporum 'Little Burger' care tips

Pittosporum 'Little Burger' is a low maintenance shrub that requires minimal care once established. Water during extended dry periods, especially during the first few years after planting. Light trimming can be carried out to maintain a neat shape or create a formal low hedge. Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser to encourage fresh foliage growth and overall plant health. Remove any damaged or dead branches as required. Its naturally compact habit reduces the need for frequent pruning.

Pittosporum 'Little Burger' size, spacing, and growth rate

Pittosporum 'Little Burger' typically grows to around 80 centimetres to 1.2 metres tall and wide, forming a dense and rounded shrub. Growth is moderate, allowing plants to develop steadily while remaining easy to manage. Space plants approximately 50 to 70 centimetres apart for low hedging or around 1 metre apart when used as individual specimens.
