Pittosporum ‘Elfin’ is a dwarf variety that features stunning foliage. Small, light green-yellow foliage is produced on this shrub as it grows with a tight, ball shaped habit. It produces small and scented, purple flowers through spring and summer which are a lovely accent to the foliage. This evergreen typically grows to 50 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of most soil types, except extreme wet or dry, and will grow in shaded conditions though tends to become more open. It is also tolerant of coastal conditions, periods of dry, and frost but will benefit from protection while it is establishing. Pittosporum ‘Elfin’ is commonly included in a mixed planting, added to a border planting, maintained in a container, used for topiary, or planted around outdoor living areas. It is a welcome addition to any garden.
