Pieris Little Heath Details

Pieris Little Heath is a popular and attractive shrub grown for both its foliage and flowers. This compact, rounded shrub produces reddish-purple flower buds that first open as soft-pink then mature to white. The flowers which are like miniature bells are mildly fragrant and are produced in spring. New growth in spring is bronze which ages to become variegated green and cream. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 1 m wide, growing best on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. Leaf colouring and flowering will be reduced as the levels of shade are increased. It is frost hardy once established and benefits from a sheltered position that does not dry out. Pieris Little Heath makes for a superb specimen in a small garden and is well suited to growing in a container, adding to a mixed or border planting, or planting around outdoor living areas.
