Pieris Flaming Silver is an attractive shrub grown for both its foliage and flowers. This compact and rounded shrub produces red-purple flower buds that first open as soft-pink flowers, then mature to white. The flowers are mildly fragrant, and produced from winter through spring on graceful stems. The new foliage in spring is bright orange-red with a pink margin and eventually ages to become variegated silver and white. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide. Pieris Flaming Silver makes for a superb specimen in a small garden and is often included in a mixed planting.

Pieris Flaming Silver Details

Pieris Flaming Silver is an attractive shrub grown for both its foliage and flowers. This compact and rounded shrub produces red-purple flower buds that first open as soft-pink flowers, then mature to white. The flowers are mildly fragrant, and produced from winter through spring on graceful stems. The new foliage in spring is bright orange-red with a pink margin and eventually ages to become variegated silver and white. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, growing best on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade. Leaf colouring and flowering will be reduced as the levels of shade are increased, however. It is hardy to moderate frost once established. Pieris Flaming Silver makes for a superb specimen in a small garden and is often included in a mixed planting. It is also well suited to being maintained in a container, using to border an entrance, or for planting around outdoor living areas.
