Phylica pubescens Details

Phylica pubescens, commonly known as the Flannel Flower, Featherhead, or Flannel Plant, is a small and bushy shrub grown for its interesting flowers and foliage. It carries narrow and leathery, dark green leaves which are covered in fine hair. Cream-white flowers with a light, cinnamon scent are borne at the end of each stem during autumn and into winter. These are great for attracting bees. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It will tolerate moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments but will benefit from protection while establishing. The Flannel Flower is commonly added to a mixed planting or included anywhere something a little different is desired. The stems are often cut for floral work.
