Philadelphus virginalis Details

Philadelphus virginalis, commonly known as Mock Orange, is grown for its stunning flowers. It produces masses of the scented, double, pure white blooms in spring. They are held on arching stems and literally transform the plant. The foliage comprises dark green leaves which contrast well with the flowers and are attractive in their own right. This deciduous shrub typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates but does require good moisture levels during dry periods. Philadelphus virginalis is commonly added to a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, added to cottage or “white” gardens, or included anywhere its beauty and fragrance can be enjoyed.
