This variety of Philadelphus is grown for its stunning and fragrant flowers. It becomes adorned with masses of scented, cream-white blooms in spring which are held on arching branches and literally transform the plant. The foliage comprises dark green leaves which contrast well with the flowers and are attractive in their own right. It typically grows to 1.2 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this deciduous plant is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frosts and cool climates but does require good moisture levels during dry periods. Philadelphus coronarius is commonly added to a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, planted around living areas, used in cottage gardens, or included anywhere its beauty and fragrance can be enjoyed.
