Olearia arborescens, commonly known as Pekapeka, is an evergreen, NZ native shrub which grows to about 4 m tall and 2.5 m wide. It features leathery, glossy green leaves with wavy edges. During spring and summer, it bears white flowers which are very aesthetic. Olearia arborescens is commonly included in a mixed planting, revegetation planting, planted around larger trees, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or grown anywhere a tough plant is required.

Olearia arborescens Details

Olearia arborescens, commonly known as Pekapeka, is an evergreen, NZ native shrub which grows to about 4 m tall and 2.5 m wide. It features leathery, glossy green leaves with wavy edges. The trunk has thin, papery bark which peels off in long, thin flakes. During spring and summer, it bears white flowers which are very aesthetic. This shrub performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site though it is tolerant of coastal conditions, a range of soil conditions, and periods of dry. Olearia arborescens is commonly included in a mixed planting, revegetation planting, planted around larger trees, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or grown anywhere a tough plant is required.
