“Moon Bay” is a compact, evergreen shrub grown for its colourful foliage. New growth is lime green and flushed with red. The red tones disappear as the foliage ages but then become dominant during autumn and winter. Small, white flowers are borne on the ends of stems in spring and result in red berries that last into winter. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, some wind, short periods of dry, and coastal conditions. This tidy plant is ideal for rock gardens, mass planting, growing in a container, adding to a border or mixed planting, or including anywhere vibrant colour is desired.
