“Gulf Stream” is a compact, evergreen shrub grown for its colourful foliage. New growth is bronze with orange tints and develops colours ranging from blue-green to gold and red as it ages. The foliage is complemented with small, white flowers in summer which are followed by bright red berries. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, some wind, short periods of dry, and coastal environments. “Gulf Stream” is a tidy plant and is ideal for rock gardens, mass planting either on a bank or as a groundcover, maintaining in a container, adding to a border or mixed planting, planting around outdoor living areas, or including anywhere vibrant colour is desired.
