Myrtus communis, known as the Common Myrtle, is an evergreen shrub grown for its flowers and foliage. This shrub carries small, glossy, green leaves which release a pleasant odour when crushed. They are held densely and from mid-spring through early summer it produces masses of small yet showy, fragrant, white flowers. The flowers are followed by dark blue berries as it grows to 3 m tall and the same wide. Myrtus communis is commonly used in mixed plantings, grown as a specimen, trimmed into a hedge, or maintained in a container. It is a hardy and versatile plant.

Myrtle communis, scientifically known as Myrtus communis, is an evergreen shrub grown for its flowers and foliage. This shrub carries small, glossy, green leaves which release a pleasant odour when crushed. They are held densely and from mid-spring through early summer it produces masses of small yet showy, fragrant, white flowers. The flowers are followed by dark blue berries that attract birds and adds an extra element to this plant. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is frost hardy and tolerant of both dry conditions and coastal environments.
