Murraya 'Sweet Privacy'

How to grow Murraya 'Sweet Privacy' in NZ

Grow Murraya 'Sweet Privacy' in full sun or light shade in fertile, well drained soil. Choose a warm sheltered position, particularly in areas with hard frosts, as young plants benefit from protection while becoming established. Prepare the planting area with compost, plant at the same depth as the root ball, and water thoroughly. Keep the soil evenly moist through the first growing season so the roots develop strongly. Apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and reduce weeds, keeping it clear of the stems. A sunny site encourages dense foliage and flowering.

Murraya 'Sweet Privacy' care tips

Murraya 'Sweet Privacy' is easy to care for and benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry weather. Feed in spring with a balanced slow release fertiliser to support healthy foliage and strong growth. Trim regularly from an early age to encourage a dense hedge and maintain the desired height. Light frequent pruning gives the tidiest result and can be completed after flowering or whenever needed. Remove damaged stems promptly and keep the base weed free. Renew mulch each year to conserve moisture and support the root system through warm weather.

Murraya 'Sweet Privacy' size, spacing, and growth rate

Murraya 'Sweet Privacy' can grow about 3 m to 4 m tall and around 2 m wide in suitable warm conditions, although regular pruning can maintain it at a lower height. Space plants approximately 1 m to 1.5 m apart for a dense privacy screen, allowing room for each plant to develop. Growth is moderate to fast in fertile well drained soil with warmth and regular moisture. Its naturally dense upright habit is ideal for screening. Murraya 'Sweet Privacy' is an excellent choice for establishing long lasting evergreen privacy around larger gardens and boundaries.
