Metrosideros perforata (White Rātā) has a moderate to fast growth rate compared to other Metrosideros climbers. Under good conditions—such as a sheltered spot with moisture and something to climb—it can grow up to 1 metre per year. Growth is usually quicker once the plant finds a structure or tree to attach to, as it naturally uses its wiry stems to scramble upwards.
