Metrosideros 'Dalese'

How to grow Metrosideros 'Dalese' in NZ

Metrosideros 'Dalese' grows best in full sun to encourage strong flowering, though it will tolerate light shade. Plant in free draining soil and choose a position with good airflow. It performs well across most NZ regions and tolerates coastal conditions, wind, and salt spray once established. Water regularly during the first year to establish a strong root system, then reduce watering as the plant becomes established.

Metrosideros 'Dalese' care tips

Metrosideros 'Dalese' is very low maintenance once established. Water during extended dry periods, particularly in the first few summers. Pruning is rarely required but can be done after flowering to maintain shape if needed. Feeding is generally unnecessary, though a light application of slow release fertiliser in spring can support growth in poorer soils.

Metrosideros 'Dalese' size, spacing, and growth rate

Metrosideros 'Dalese' typically grows to around 3 to 4 metres tall and approximately 2.5 to 3 metres wide. It has a moderate growth rate and forms a dense, rounded canopy.
