Melicytus obovatus is a hardy native New Zealand shrub growing up to 2 metres tall. It features rounded, leathery leaves and small, inconspicuous flowers. Well suited to coastal and dry, well-drained soils, it tolerates wind, salt spray, and drought, making it ideal for exposed coastal gardens.
