Manakura, Shrubby Mahow
Melicytus micranthus, commonly called Swamp Mahoe, is a low-growing native New Zealand shrub reaching about 1.5 m in height. It has small, glossy green leaves and produces tiny, pale yellow to white flowers in spring. This hardy shrub thrives in wet, swampy areas, making it ideal for planting in damp soils and alongside waterways. Melicytus micranthus provides excellent ground cover and habitat for native wildlife. Its dense, compact form makes it useful for erosion control and naturalistic planting schemes in wetlands or riparian zones.
