Melaleuca squarrosa, commonly known as Scented Paperbark, is a hardy shrub is grown for its pretty flowers and distinct foliage. It has small and dense, sharply pointed leaves carried on arching branches. During spring and summer, it produces masses of fragrant, cream-coloured flowers which are bottlebrush like in appearance. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. It is tolerant of wet, swampy conditions, coastal environments, frosts, and dry periods. Melaleuca squarrosa is commonly included in mixed plantings, trimmed into a hedge, used as a backdrop for other plants, or planted for screening and shelter.
