Melaleuca Mountain Fire is an evergreen shrub grown for its pretty flowers and colourful foliage. New growth emerges a fiery, purple-red and ages to become dark green with purple overtones. The foliage is held on gently arching branch which also host masses of cream-coloured flowers during summer. The flowers are fragrant and have a bottlebrush-like appearance. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of heavy soils as well as coastal environments, moderate frost, and dry periods. Melaleuca Mountain Fire is suited to mixed plantings, growing as an informal hedge, planting around outdoor living areas, or growing anywhere the fragrance and colour this shrub affords can be appreciated.
