“Plum Gorgeous” is a variety of Loropetalum grown for its interesting flowers. Through spring and autumn, it produces fragrant, spider-like, dark pink flowers, which are both unusual and appealing. The foliage on this bushy, evergreen shrub is purple with dark green undertones, and provides a lovely backdrop for the flowers. It grows densely to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is hardy to moderate frost and will tolerate dry periods and coastal environments. “Plum Gorgeous” is commonly included in a mixed planting, added to a cottage garden, planted around outdoor living areas, trimmed into a hedge, or grown for winter colour and fragrance.
