How to grow Loropetalum ‘Iceberry’ in NZ

Plant ‘Iceberry’ in well-drained, fertile soil in a sunny or partially shaded location. While it tolerates a range of soil types, it will perform best in slightly acidic conditions enriched with compost. Water regularly during the first year to establish roots, then only during extended dry periods. Mulch to conserve soil moisture and suppress weeds. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape.

Loropetalum ‘Iceberry’ care tips

Avoid planting in waterlogged soils, as Loropetalum prefers drier conditions. Apply an acid-loving plant fertiliser in spring to support strong growth and vibrant foliage colour. Protect from severe frost in colder regions, or grow in a container that can be moved to a sheltered spot over winter.

Loropetalum ‘Iceberry’ size, spacing, and growth rate

This variety grows to around 1–1.5 m tall and wide, with a naturally dense and rounded habit. Space plants 1–1.2 m apart for hedging or group planting. Growth is moderate and responds well to regular light pruning.
