Leucadendron Preciosa, commonly known as the Protea Pin Cushion, is grown for its stunning flowers. The showy, red blooms produced during spring are truly impressive. They are great for attracting birds and are often used in floral arrangements. The foliage comprises mid-green leaves which provides a lovely backdrop to the blooms. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates, moderate frost once established, and extended dry periods. This Protea Pin Cushion is commonly included in mixed plantings, maintained in a container, used in pool gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or used in the drier areas of the garden.
