Leucospermum Caroline, commonly known as the Pincushion Protea, is grown for its stunning, pin cushion like flowers. The waxy, peach coloured flowers are produced from winter through spring. The flowers are great for attracting birds and are often used in floral arrangements. The foliage comprises small, mid-green leaves and provides a lovely backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates, frost once established, and extended periods of dry. This Pincushion Protea is commonly included in mixed plantings, grown in a container, or planted in the drier areas of the garden. A mass planting on a bank will provide a highly rewarding display.
