“Wiri Shelley” is a variety of Manuka grown for its amazing flowering. It produces masses of single, light pink flowers with a dark centre from spring through summer. The outer petals have a lovely, faded, dark pink edge. The flowers are complemented with small, dark green leaves which are held densely on upright stems. It typically grows to 2 m high and 1.5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. This hardy plant will tolerate dry periods, coastal conditions, frost, cool climates, and a wide range of soil conditions, barring extreme wet or dry. “Wiri Shelley” is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, planted around outdoor living areas, trimmed into a hedge, or maintained in a container.
