Leptospermum 'Wiri Donna'

How to grow Leptospermum 'Wiri Donna' in NZ

Leptospermum 'Wiri Donna' grows best in full sun with well drained soil. In NZ it adapts well to a wide range of growing conditions including coastal and exposed sites once established. Water regularly during establishment to encourage strong root development, especially through dry periods. Applying mulch around the base helps conserve soil moisture and improve soil structure while suppressing weeds. This hardy shrub tolerates wind, light frost, and poorer soils well, making it suitable for many regions and landscape styles throughout NZ.

Leptospermum 'Wiri Donna' care tips

Leptospermum 'Wiri Donna' is relatively easy to maintain and requires minimal care once established. Water during prolonged dry periods, particularly while young plants are becoming established. Light trimming after flowering helps maintain shape and encourages dense healthy growth. Feed lightly with a balanced fertiliser during spring to support flowering and foliage development. Annual mulching helps conserve moisture and improve soil conditions. Avoid planting in overly wet areas as good drainage is important for healthy roots and vigorous long term growth.
