Leptospermum Nanum Rubrum is a dwarf variety of Manuka renowned for its pretty flowers and attractive foliage. During spring and summer, it produces masses of dark red flowers with a wax like centre. These are complemented with the fine, dark green foliage which has a purple undertone. This compact, evergreen shrub typically grows to 1 m tall and 75 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, and a wide range of soil conditions, barring extreme wet or dry. Leptospermum scoparium Nanum Rubrum is commonly used as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, or trimmed into a hedge.
