“Burgundy Queen” is a variety of Manuka that features double, crimson-red flowers from late winter through spring. The flowers are great for attracting birds and bees. The foliage is dark green with bronze and dark red tones, and provides a lovely accent to the flowers. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade. It will tolerate drought, heavy soils, frost, coastal environments, and cool climates. “Burgundy Queen” is commonly included in mixed plantings, used as backdrop for smaller plants, planted to attract native fauna, planted for shelter, or trimmed into a hedge. The fine foliage and floriferous nature makes it a fine addition to any garden.
