“Violet Intrigue” is an outstanding variety of Lavender owing to its very aesthetic flowers, foliage, and form. This shrub grows compactly, bearing masses of beautiful, violet blue flower spikes from spring through summer. The fragrant foliage is green-grey and complements the flowers perfectly. This evergreen typically grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry periods, frost, and coastal environments but does require protection while it is establishing. “Violet Intrigue” is commonly used in cottage gardens, included in borders and mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, or maintained in a container. A mass planting on a bank or the like gives a truly dramatic display with this variety.
