How to grow 'Bee Brilliant' Lavender in NZ

‘Bee Brilliant’ Lavender thrives in New Zealand when planted in a sunny, well-drained position. Choose a spot with at least six hours of direct sunlight daily, and improve heavy soils with sand or compost to enhance drainage. Plant in spring or autumn, spacing plants 50–70 cm apart for good airflow. Water regularly while establishing, then only during extended dry periods. Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage repeat blooms, avoiding cuts into old wood. A light feed with slow-release fertiliser in spring will support healthy growth and vibrant flowers.

Lavender 'Bee Brilliant' care tips

Lavender ‘Bee Brilliant’ is low maintenance and ideal for New Zealand gardens. Plant it in full sun with free-draining soil to encourage strong flowering. Water regularly while establishing, then sparingly once mature, as it dislikes wet roots. Lightly trim after flowering to keep it tidy and promote new blooms, avoiding cutting into old wood. A light application of slow-release fertiliser in spring will boost growth and flower production. Ensure good airflow around the plant to reduce the risk of fungal issues.
