Lavandula 'Meerlo'

How to grow Lavandula 'Meerlo' in NZ

Grow Lavandula 'Meerlo' in full sun in a suitable sheltered position, using light soil with excellent drainage. Avoid damp shaded positions and heavy soils that remain wet in winter. Plant at the nursery depth, water well, and leave space for air movement. Containers need a freely draining mix and drainage holes. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce frequency. Keep mulch away from the woody base and avoid overly rich compost.

Lavandula 'Meerlo' care tips

Care for Lavandula 'Meerlo' by matching moisture and feeding to its growing season. Water young plants during dry periods, allowing the soil to dry slightly between applications. Once established, avoid excessive watering and heavy feeding. Trim lightly after flowering to maintain a compact outline, taking care not to cut deeply into old bare wood. Remove damaged growth and keep the base clear of wet mulch. Good airflow and winter drainage support healthy plants.

Lavandula 'Meerlo' size, spacing, and growth rate

Lavandula 'Meerlo' typically reaches about 60 cm tall and 60 cm wide under suitable conditions. For individual plants, allow about 60 cm between centres to give the foliage space without excessive crowding. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Final size varies with climate, soil, container size, and maintenance. Allow for the expected spread when positioning plants beside paths, walls, or neighbouring specimens. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust nearby planting as its natural form becomes clearer.

Landscaping uses for Lavandula 'Meerlo'

Use Lavandula 'Meerlo' for sunny borders, fragrant planting, and patio containers.
