“Tuscan Tower” is a variety of Laurel selected for its compact growth habit. This evergreen tree features lush and glossy, dark green leaves which are aromatic and somewhat leathery in appearance. Flowers produced in spring are pale yellow-green and result in small, glossy, black berries. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 3 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This Laurel grows best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. It is tolerant of frost, dry periods, and moderate wind but should be protected while it is establishing. “Tuscan Tower” is a great plant for trimming into a hedge, using for screening, planting as a backdrop for smaller plants, maintaining in a container, trimming into a topiary standard, or growing as a specimen. The leaves on this variety are the well-known, Bay Leaves, and can be used fresh or dry in cooking to add flavour to dishes.
