Laurus nobilis 'Bay Gold' (Bay Laurel) Details

“Bay Gold” is a variety of Laurel selected for its compact growth habit and colourful foliage. This evergreen tree features lush and glossy, golden yellow leaves which are aromatic and somewhat leathery in appearance. Older leaves, and those towards the centre of the plant tend to lose the yellowing and become green. It typically grows 5 m tall and 4 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This Laurel grows best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun, and is tolerant of moderate frost, dry periods, and some wind, but should be protected while it is establishing. “Bay Gold” is a great plant for trimming into a hedge, using for screening, planting as a backdrop for smaller plants, maintaining in a container, or growing as a specimen. The leaves on this variety are the well-known, Bay Leaves, and can be used fresh or dry in cooking to add flavour to dishes.
