Iberis sempervirens Snowflake, commonly known as the Candytuft plant, is an evergreen shrub grown for its spectacular flowering. Fragrant, white flowers are produced in abundance through spring and summer. The proliferation literally transforms the plant and attracts both birds and insects. It carries dark green foliage which provides the plant with a textured appearance and typically grows to 40 cm tall and 80 cm wide. This variety performs best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun, protected from strong winds. It is tolerant of cool climates though young plants should be protected from frost. Iberis sempervirens Snowflake is often grown as a groundcover, included in mixed and border plantings, added to cottage and “white” gardens, used to line an entranceway, or planted anywhere the fragrance can be enjoyed. A mass planting gives an exceptional display.
