‘Villosa’ is a lovely Hydrangea variety that features large, purple flower heads. The heads are made up of open flowers that surround lighter coloured florets. These are borne from summer through autumn and sit nicely with the dark green foliage. It grows as a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 2.5 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best growth is achieved in a full sun or partial shade position on a well-drained, sheltered site with a slightly acidic soil. This Hydrangea is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry. ‘Villosa’ is a great variety for adding to a mixed planting, maintaining in a container, including in a cottage garden, or for planting around an outdoor living area.
