‘President Doumier’ is a Hydrangea variety that features large, blue flower heads when grown on acidic soils. On alkaline soils the flowers are pink. These are borne from summer through autumn and sit perfectly above the dark green foliage. It grows as a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 1.2 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best growth is achieved in a full sun or partial shade position on a well-drained, sheltered site with a slightly acidic soil. This Hydrangea is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry. ‘President Doumier’ is a great variety for adding to a mixed planting, maintaining in a container, including in a cottage garden, or for planting around an outdoor living area.
