Hydrangea ‘Ice Crystals’ is a lacecap variety of Hydrangea featuring large and elongated, white flower heads. Each head comprises open flowers along with unopened florets. These are borne through summer and autumn and contrast nicely with the lush, dark green foliage. The leaves are oak-like in appearance and turn brilliant shades of red in the autumn before falling. It grows as a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 80 cm tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry. Hydrangea ‘Ice Crystals’ is a great variety for adding to a mixed planting, maintaining in a container, including in a cottage garden, or for planting around an outdoor living area.
