Hydrangea ‘Hamburg’ is a variety that features large, flower heads packed with deep rose or blue florets from summer through autumn. The colour will depend on the pH of the soil. The flowers age to red in autumn which adds another element to this plant. They are complemented by large, green leaves that sit perfectly with the flowers. It grows as a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 1.2 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best growth is achieved in a full sun or partial shade position on a well-drained, sheltered site with a slightly acidic soil. It Hydrangea is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry. Hydrangea ‘Hamburg’ is a great variety for mixed plantings, underplanting larger trees, growing in a container, as an informal hedge, as a backdrop for smaller plants, or using to contrast with other leaf forms and flower colours.
