Hydrangea ‘Garten Baudirektor Kuhnert’ features colourful balls of light blue flowers from summer through autumn when grown on acidic soils. On alkaline soils the flowers develop pink tones. The flowers are complemented with large, green leaves that sit perfectly with the flowers. It grows as a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 1.2 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site with a slightly acidic soil. It is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry. Hydrangea ‘Garten Baudirektor Kuhnert’ is a great variety for including in mixed plantings, planting around larger trees, or growing as an informal hedge. It also makes for a lovely backdrop for smaller plants, using to contrast with other leaf forms and flower colours, or including in cottage gardens.
