Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Brilliant’ is a bigleaf variety that features balls of pink and white flowers through summer and autumn. These are complemented by large, green leaves that sit perfectly with the flowers. It grows as a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 90 cm tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best growth is achieved in a full sun or partial shade position on a well-drained, sheltered site with a slightly acidic soil. It is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry. Hydrangea ‘Brilliant’ is a great variety for mixed plantings, including in cottage gardens, maintaining in a container, or growing as an informal hedge.
