Simmonds Red Hibiscus

The Simmonds Red Hibiscus is grown for its showy flowers. The showy, bright red flowers are single, have a papery appearance, and are produced through summer and autumn off upright, slender branches which also host glossy green leaves. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of short periods of dry as well as moderate frost once established. In cool climates it may become deciduous or partially deciduous during winter. The Simmonds Red Hibiscus is commonly grown as a showy specimen, used as an informal hedge, planted for screening, included in a mixed planting, added to a tropical garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.
