Hibiscus schizopetalus, commonly known as the Spider or Fringed Hibiscus, is grown for its showy and unusual flowers which are an elegant shade of red. They are borne year-round but predominantly through summer and autumn off upright, slender stems that also host dark green leaves as it grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Hibiscus schizopetalus is commonly grown as a showy specimen, planted for screening, included in a mixed planting, added to a tropical garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.
