Hibiscus diversifolius care tips

Plant Hibiscus diversifolius in full sun to partial shade with consistently moist or boggy soil. It thrives in wet conditions and tolerates poor drainage, making it ideal for pond edges or low-lying areas. Water during dry spells to keep the soil damp, especially while establishing. Prune lightly to maintain shape and manage spread. This tough native tolerates wind and light frost, and generally requires little maintenance once settled into the right environment.

Plant Size and Spacing for Hibiscus diversifolius (Swamp Hibiscus)

Hibiscus diversifolius typically grows 1.5 to 2 metres tall and can spread 1 to 2 metres wide, forming a sprawling shrub. For mass plantings or naturalised areas, space plants about 1.5 to 2 metres apart to allow for full spread and good air circulation. This spacing also supports healthy growth and easier maintenance in wetland or riparian settings.
