The Crown of Bohemia Hibiscus is grown for its showy, double flowers. The flowers are yellow-orange and produced through summer and autumn off upright, slender branches. The foliage comprises glossy green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of short periods of dry as well as moderate frost once established. In cool climates it may become deciduous or partially deciduous during winter. The Crown of Bohemia Hibiscus is commonly used as a showy specimen, for hedging or screening, in mixed plantings, grown in a container, added to a tropical garden, or planted around the barbecue area.
