Hebe Frozen Flame

Hebe Frozen Flame is grown for its amazing foliage and flowers. The small leaves are grey-green and edged with cream. They develop fabulous pink and purple colours during the colder months. The foliage is complemented through summer with lavender coloured flowers as it grows to 60-80 cm tall and 1 m wide. Hebe Frozen Flame is commonly added to a mixed or border planting, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools, used in cottage gardens, or mass planted on a bank.

Hebe Frozen Flame care

The most important part of caring for Hebe Frozen Flame is to make sure they have a well-drained soil that does not become waterlogged at any time. This, along with over-watering, are the main causes of plants to fail to perform or die. The plants can be lightly trimmed any time but this is best undertaken in summer. The final elements are to feed the plants in spring with a general fertiliser and keep an eye on watering so they do not dry out. Keep an eye out for scale insect and mealy bugs and treat with an appropriate agrichemical if necessary.

Hebe Frozen Flame flowers

Hebe Frozen Flame produces delicate spikes of soft lavender to pale blue flowers during the summer months. These appear in dense clusters above the attractive variegated foliage, adding both colour and texture to the garden. While the flowers themselves are relatively small, they are abundant and contrast beautifully against the grey-green leaves edged with creamy white and tinged with purple, especially in cooler weather. The flowering not only enhances the ornamental appeal of the plant but also attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
