Grevillea 'Splendour'

How to grow Grevillea 'Splendour' in NZ

Grow Grevillea 'Splendour' in full sun or partial shade, using soil with excellent drainage. Avoid heavy wet ground or improve drainage before planting. Set the root ball at its original depth, water thoroughly, and mulch lightly while keeping the stems clear. Water regularly through establishment, then reduce watering as roots develop. Avoid rich manure and high phosphorus fertilisers. Shelter young plants from severe frost and cold winds. Check moisture regularly as the new roots settle into their surroundings.

Grevillea 'Splendour' care tips

Care for Grevillea 'Splendour' by matching moisture and feeding to its growing season. Water during establishment and extended dry periods, then allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Use only a suitable low phosphorus fertiliser if feeding is needed. Trim lightly after flowering to encourage a balanced habit, avoiding severe cuts into old bare wood. Keep mulch clear of the stems and watch for poor drainage after heavy winter rain.

Grevillea 'Splendour' size, spacing, and growth rate

Grevillea 'Splendour' typically reaches about 2 m tall and 1 m wide under suitable conditions. For individual plants, allow about 1 m between centres to give the foliage space without excessive crowding. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Final size varies with climate, soil, container size, and maintenance. Allow for the expected spread when positioning plants beside paths, walls, or neighbouring specimens. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust nearby planting as its natural form becomes clearer.
