Grevillea 'Robin Hood'

How to grow Grevillea 'Robin Hood' in NZ

Grevillea 'Robin Hood' grows best in full sun with well drained soil. It performs strongly across many parts of New Zealand, particularly in coastal and dry regions. Avoid heavy or poorly drained soils as these can cause root issues. Plant in spring or autumn for best establishment. Water regularly while young, then reduce watering once established. Provide shelter from severe frost during early growth to ensure a strong and healthy plant.

Grevillea 'Robin Hood' care tips

Grevillea 'Robin Hood' is low maintenance and easy to grow once established. Water during the early stages, then only during extended dry periods. Avoid fertilisers high in phosphorus, as grevilleas prefer low nutrient soils. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain shape and encourages bushier growth. Remove any dead or damaged wood as needed. This plant is ideal for gardeners wanting reliable colour with minimal ongoing care.

Grevillea 'Robin Hood' size, spacing, and growth rate

Grevillea 'Robin Hood' is a fast growing shrub that can reach 2 to 3 metres tall and wide. It forms a dense, rounded habit when regularly trimmed. Space plants about 1.5 to 2 metres apart to allow for full development. Its vigorous growth makes it ideal for quick screening or filling larger spaces. Pruning helps control size and encourages a more compact form when required.
