How to grow Grevillea ‘Lemon Baby’ in NZ

Plant Grevillea ‘Lemon Baby’ in a sunny position with free-draining soil. It thrives in poor to moderately fertile soils and prefers slightly acidic conditions. Avoid using phosphorus-rich fertilisers as they can harm the plant’s roots. Water regularly during establishment, then only in extended dry periods. Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a tidy, compact form and promote new growth.

Grevillea ‘Lemon Baby’ care tips

This variety benefits from an application of low-phosphorus native fertiliser in spring and summer. Mulch around the base to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, but keep mulch clear of the crown. Grevillea ‘Lemon Baby’ is generally pest- and disease-free, making it an excellent low-maintenance choice for NZ gardens.

Grevillea ‘Lemon Baby’ size, spacing, and growth rate

Grevillea ‘Lemon Baby’ typically grows to around 50–70 cm tall and 70–90 cm wide. For hedging or mass planting, space plants 70–80 cm apart to create a dense display. It has a moderate growth rate and quickly establishes into a neat, rounded shrub.

Landscaping uses for Grevillea ‘Lemon Baby’

This plant is ideal for low hedges, native gardens, and mixed shrub borders. Its lemon-hued flowers brighten the garden while attracting bees, butterflies, and nectar-feeding birds. It is also well-suited to coastal gardens, rockeries, and water-wise landscapes where low-maintenance plants are preferred.
