“James Roof” is an impressive variety of the commonly known Silk Tassel Bush, this is a large, evergreen shrub that provides a striking display in winter. At this time, it produces graceful catkins which hang like braided hair from the mid-green foliage and remain until early spring. It has a tidy and rounded growth habit, typically growing to 3 m tall and the same wide. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate moderate frost and dry periods but should be protected while establishing. The Silk Tassel Bush is commonly included in a mixed planting, used for shelter or screening, or planted for winter interest.
