Gardenia ‘Tahiti’, commonly known as the Tahitian Gardenia, is a beautiful, evergreen shrub that has incredible flowers. This popular plant bears exquisite, mid-sized, intensely fragrant, white blooms through spring. The flowers contrast perfectly with the dark green, glossy foliage. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of light frost only and requires shelter from wind. Gardenia ‘Tahiti’ puts on the best displays when mass planted but is also effective for under planting larger plants, adding to mixed plantings, container planting, planting around the barbecue area, for ‘tropical’ gardens, or adding to “white” gardens. Gardenias are a favourite among gardeners for both their versatility and impressive aesthetics.
