Gardenia jasminoides ‘Golden Magic’ is a popular shrub with exquisite and fragrant flowers. It produces large and showy blooms from summer through until autumn. The flowers start off white, age to a buttery yellow, then darken to a golden yellow. They blend nicely with the glossy, dark green foliage. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This evergreen grows best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of light frost once established. Gardenia ‘Golden Magic’ puts on the best displays when mass planted but is also effective for planting around outdoor living areas, adding to a mixed planting, maintaining in a container, or for including in a ‘tropical’ or cottage garden.
