Ficus 'Tuffi' Details

Ficus ‘Tuffi’, also known as Tuffy Fig, is an evergreen shrub grown for its attractive foliage and rapid growth. The leaves are glossy and light green when young and mature to become dark green. The foliage is both lush and dense, and held with a somewhat layered appearance. It grows rapidly to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate moderate wind, dry periods, and light to moderate frost, though young plants will require protection while they are establishing. The Tuffy Fig is often used in subtropical gardens, trimmed into a hedge, grown around pool or barbecue areas, maintained in a container, used for topiary, or added to a mixed planting. Ficus ‘Tuffi’ has leaped in popularity over the past few years is becoming the most widely planted hedge in NZ gardens.
